ACRETIN 0.025% Topical Cream is used to treat acne vulgaris. It can be used by teens, younger teens, and adults with acne. It works to treat both inflammatory acne as well as comedonal acne.

How ACRETIN Works:

It decreases the number and severity of acne pimples and promote quick healing of pimples that do develop. ACRETIN cream contains Tretinoin 0.025% and belongs to retinoids derived from vitamin A.
It works by affecting the growth of skin cells.

Applying ACRETIN:

Wash your hands before applying ACRETIN. Gently clean the affected skin with a mild cleanser and pat dry. Use your fingertips to apply a small amount of ACRETIN (about the size of a pea) in a thin layer, once daily at bedtime.

For topical use only; It is not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use.
Apply a thin film of the cream to affected areas of the face and/or trunk once daily after washing. Use a pea-sized amount for each area of the face (e.g., forehead, chin, each cheek).

Side Effects and Warnings:

ACRETIN can cause some side effects. Most common: Dryness, Redness, Flaking, Stinging or burning.

The side effects are typically at their worst during the first few weeks of treatment.
After your skin adjusts to the medication, side effects usually diminish.

In addition to these side effects, ACRETIN may cause your acne to flare up for the first few weeks of treatment. This is known as "skin purging" and is caused by pimples that formed under the skin prior to treatment coming to the surface. As you continue to use it, your acne will begin to improve.

Useful Tips:

During the first few weeks of using tretinoin, your acne might appear worse because ACRETIN is working on pimples forming inside the skin. It may take up to few weeks to notice results.

Use it regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, use it at the same time each day. Do not use a larger amount or use it more frequently than recommended. Your skin will not improve any faster, and it will increase the risk of developing redness, peeling and pain.
